  • Flats Chum

I've been thinking of chumming to help draw in fish and I've been wondering if I buy expensive chum (which I would prefer not since I'm cheap) or to make my own and if so what do y'all use for recipes?

You can also cast net menhaden. Freeze them in plastic bags etc.

I've even taken a paint mixer to them to pulverize them then froze them.

You can also buy menhaden oil by the gallon. Talk about a slick!

Fritos work great for making a slick. Excellent for getting rid of potlickers.

Another question might be.. What kind of fish are you trying to draw in by chumming?

I think you would be better off just finding a flat that has bait, slicks, birds or a combination of them already on it. Depending on the flat and time of year you are more likely to attract more hard heads, gafftop, and sharks than anything. Good luck though.
