Fishing from a bank and saw this behemoth swimming along the wall.... It was red with a white head. Pretty big, could have been a big ugly or bull red, but didnt see any stripes or spots. I could see it perfectly with my polarized sunglasses, so I took a few snapshots with my nonpolarized camera phone. a little glare, but for reference, i did some artwork in the first to trace the fish... original is the second photo

It almost looked like a giant Koi... more orange than red.

I'd say Black Drum.
Oftentimes they are a light copper color.
They like to hang out along walls and piers.

I'd say BU also-the fins are longer on a black drum than a redfish and they look kinda long-either way ya should have hooked it!!

On second thought...to make things interesting you should have jumped on it's back with a knife in your hand while yelling like a scalded banshee, getting it all on video and then posting it up on youtube for the whole world to see.

And after finishing the unidentified fish, you could have done a celebratory victory yell much like the turtle man.

It was hard because my tackle box was on the other side of the bank and i had to walk along the concrete to get to it (i was using a topwater at the time). By the time I put a plastic on there, it was too late... i spooked it. Good news though, I have seen it there before and will be ready.

It sure caught me by surprise... You know that feeling when you catch a shadow out of the corner of your eye and you think to yourself "naaahhhh" must be going crazy. Next time I look down, its sitting still in my shadow.
