Our Founding Fathers saw fit to encourage a system by which we could Amend this Constitution. If we are to change it, that is the only way.

Right on Couch! A lot of so-called "experts" on the Constitution miss that one - because they don't like it. Other nations only accept citizenship by sovereignty - meaning only children of legal citizens can be considered. This is how it works in the Bahamas.

By the way, many don't realize there are TWO nations on US soil - the Indian Nation has separate status as a nation and only answers to the US federal government by way of a treaty. That's a loooong story but was one of the origins behind the "welfare state," which is run by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Finally, not having documentation is not a crime in the US. it might be illegal behavior, but is not a crime in itself. Such offenders can be detained in a reasonable manner and deported, but cannot be subject to prison or jails as defined by the Penal Code. Instead, it is overseen by Magistrates under the Civil Code. If an alien is caught in a criminal act, the State Department must notify the Ambassador to the mother country, which is often Mexico, although not necessarily so because there are so many "OTMs" in the US.

By the way, there are about two dozen kinds of documentation that can include work visas, school visas, temporary visas, farm hand visas, tourist visas, and do forth ... the most common violation is to enter the US legally, but then over-stay the length of the visa (e.g., 2 years, or for summer resort work, 4 months).

Latest slap in the face/abuse of the system is a hotel in NYC that caters to wealthy foreigners who want an "American born" child. They fly to NYC, have the baby and then leave...albeit a very expensive, pampered deal. It still irks the shiite muslim out of me that they abuse the letter and/or spirit of the law/Constitution like this. IMHO this is not really how it was intended to be interpreted, but who am I(US citizen).

This whole immigration debate is going to be a festering, puss filled, gangrenous sore on the backside of America until some more sensible ideas/laws are enacted regarding the way we handle the borders of this country. I agree about voting - it's your duty and not some option.

But let's look at the field here - I don't see any good ideas coming out of the Tea Party or the GOP, and while some libertarians have some great idea, they aren't mainstream (I put Ron Paul is the latter category). So really, there's nobody to vote for ... but simply voting against Obama and some of the more liberal Dems ain't much of a strategy. How would you run the country instead?

This tends to shut everyone up, since they don't have a clue besides "taking back America."

I remember promises and claims like that dating back to 1994 with Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America." One of his goals was to limit all Congressmen to two terms. Well nobody liked that one, being in power, so they forgot all about it, cut taxes, and went on a massive spending spree. I don't think you really wan to to there - you just want to throw all the liberals out of power.

OK fine with me, and good luck with your "party purity" that could throw out some fine GOP members who are moderates. I really don't think the Tea Party and GOP really stand for anything concrete, just abstractions like "following the constitution," states rights, lower taxes, and deregulation. The T-party doesn't even do "family values" anymore, after figuring our that half the GOP were man-buggering faggots. I mean come on, you have a very conservative Supreme Court and they couldn't figure out what you're talking about on constitutional issues, other than the Second Amendment seems to protect the right to bear arms.
