  • Video: Hurricane Earl

I went out and took this video after the eye passed about 20 miles to the north of us and the wind had shifted to the southwest. It was during this time that Setting Point (on the south side of the island) was getting beat up so bad.

Those Talapa's are stronger than I thought.
Did you lose any shark Jaws?

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

Didn't lose a single jaw! I built the palapa 2 years ago - built like a tank. I secured two opposite sides to the ground with rope to prevent it from twisting back-and-forth violently. The tie-down was also on the side of the strongest wind. Did not even lose many coconut leaves from the top.

      Construction photos:

I set the pole in 5 feet of concrete.

        Hey man, thats neat!

Did I say Talapa...LOL! Sounds like a Asian carp!

I seen in a recent picture of yours the jaws and thought that was very cool. Did you land all of those too?
I do like me some fresh grilled shark with salt, pepper, butter and a squeeze of lemon!
