  • North Shorline -- Nasty Rumor!!??!!

Heard some local guys talking about some proposed dredging of the intracoastal all along the west end. They said that the dredgers were going to build a barrier to hold in the spoils along the bay side of the north shoreline. Got me worrying about quite a few of the places that I fish -- (yes I fish in places besides the diversionary ) -- I didn't get any wind as to the time line on this.. Anybody heard this besides me?

That would be bad news for some choice area's.

But Mike, it has to be done from time to time anyway, no?

Looks like the plan has been out there for a good amount of time, probably just getting to it.

Bert Mike's point is we don't want it dumped on some of the only grass that grows in that area.

Definitely has to be done occasionally Bert -- Just worried about where they dump the spoils.

No shrimp yet but you're on the top of the list.

Oh, ok. I understand the concern now and it makes perfect sense.
And thanks for making me on the list.

It's been dredged every 5 years or so. The Corps really don't care what they are putting the spoil on, just as long as it is not in the canal. And yes, it has ruined some PRIME oyster reefs and fishing areas along the north shoreline. Really makes for some sloppy wading after they dredge for more than a few years on what used to be hard sand... Don't know if the Galveston Bay Foundation has any pull/input on this or not...

Bump seems we forgot about this issue back when it was permitted.
