  • Water flow

Just received this email and though some of you might be interested.

    Hi Mike,

I’m sure you’d be interested to know about new standards the TCEQ is in the process of setting to determine how much water should remain flowing in our rivers and into the bay as a result of the SB3 environmental flows allocation process. They are currently taking public comments on the proposals for the Trinity/San Jacinto/Galveston bay standards and on the Sabine/Neches/Sabine Lake standards. Here’s a short blog post that touches on it:

No kidding. You really need to e-mail a comment to the TCEQ if you want your kids to know what oysters taste like. Under the current water flow plans, Galveston Bay oysters would cease to exist. If you don't believe me, take a look at today's Houston Chronicle. There's a very timely a

I’ll follow-up with an action alert we sent out to our members. It makes it super easy for those concerned but short on time to submit a pre-written comment advocating for strong flow protection to protect wildlife. Hope you are well and enjoying some good days out on the water/in the field!

    Protect Blue Crabs

    Keep East Texas Rivers Flowing

    Dear Jennifer,

Blue crabs in Galveston Bay and Sabine Lake depend on the freshwater flowing from Texas' Trinity, San Jacinto, Sabine, and Neches Rivers.

But, Texas' rivers could be drained to only a trickle!

Crabs, shrimp and oysters require the mix of fresh and saltwater to reproduce. Migratory birds could be left hungry when there are fewer blue crabs and other species on which they feed.

Don't let Texas rivers be drained dry and put blue crabs, oysters, fish and birds at risk--please speak up today.

We now have the chance to ensure enough water flows for our Texas wildlife to survive, because the state legislature passed a process for deciding how much fresh water must be kept flowing down Texas Rivers and into our bays.

But so far, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has proposed extremely weak standards that would put Texas wildlife at risk.

Tell the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to take this chance to protect our rivers and bays seriously!

The TCEQ's draft proposal could reduce the Trinity and San Jacinto Rivers to a trickle, making Galveston Bay saltier and more harmful for wildlife. The draft proposal for the Sabine and Neches Rivers and Sabine Lake area is better, but still needs some important improvements.

Urge the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to keep water in Texas Rivers for birds, fish and wildlife.

Thanks for all you do for wildlife!

I'm all for flushing the bays, but I am not a friend of NWF-too much like WWF, Nature Conservancy and (IMO) CCA now and other tree huggers. Be careful of these type groups-they seem to forget that oil runs the world and the cars they drive as well as all the products they use and lose sight and focus-just think of "Sea Kittens" and PETA. Fishing would be illegal if they had their way.

Just my $.02, but of course I work for nasty oil biz that Al Gore and Scumobama hate, so I'm a "little" biased.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.
