                One of my flight instructors was shot down three times in P-51's. Said that they were great to fly but easy to shoot down with any bullet that ruptured a cooling line, jacket or radiator. He was flying them in Korea.
                Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

                  To bad the twin radial wasp that powered the F8F Bearcat did see operation before the end of WW2.
                  It would had crushed everything.
                  As far as I know, this plane concieved in 43 still holds records for rate of climb and speed by any propeler driven aircraft.
