  • Hooking up Batts to 24V

    I just got my new trolling motor. I need to hook my batteries in series to go 24V. Please tell me if this sounds correct. I need a connecting cable from pos to neg on one end and then the troling motor to the other pos and neg of the opposite end of batteries. Does this sound right?

    I think you have it right. Should be

    Trolling Motor Red -> (+)Battery(-) -> (+)Battery(-) -> Trolling Motor Black

      Hook positive motor wire to positive terminal on one battery , then negative motor wire to negative terminal on second battery , then use a jumper wire to connect the other two post

              I just had Evans install mine and put in an onboard charger. Excellent job and it works great. I am sure that you can do it from the illustrations above.

                    should I spring for the Blue Sea Systems 60 amp breaker ( $60) or is there one more economic at an auto parts store? I have a Minnkota 82 lb thrust 24V motor.

                      Go with the size your trolling motor manufacturer recomends and the better stuff that last around salt and corrosion costs more,useually worth it, but not always!!

                        I got mine at west marine for my 80lb 24v...i think it was somewhere in that price range maybe a little less.Evans diagram is the right one.Make sure you get some straps or something to set the heavy suckers in...good luck.
