Opinons wanted for fuel/Ethanol treatment

i've never had a problem w/ my suzuki 4 stroke til saturday. it ran great but on 3 different occasions it just lost power. it started right up but i was wondering if keeping it in the sling on the water and filling the tank sometimes w/ gas cans instead of at the pump if i got either air or water in the tank. anybody have any ideas and do you think stabil will help? i'm wondering if the humidity and ethanol is part of the problem.
