Went out by myself this evening at 5:30 for a quick trip. Met a guide friend on his way in as was going out and he said the fish are biting in the evenings so I started feeling lucky. Ended up with 4 fat sows (3-24", 1-25") in an hour and a half. All were caught on shrimp tails and 1/4 oz. jigs in 3 ft. of water or less with mud or sandy bottom. Wasted too much time over deeper reefs and I think I could have caught a few more if I had started and stayed shallow (tide was high, water temp-71.5 degrees). I released the other three trout and had to get them back in the water quick, so no pic, and kept one for my elderly neighbor next door (cooler is 24" long-pic is one of the 24"ers).....I forgot......I also released 2 keeper reds. BEATS WORKING!!!!

It was weird that all the fish were sows. I wonder where the males were......maybe they were too busy trying to get some fin (OK, that was tasteless!) HooooHoooo!Captain, Galveston County Blue Team Fish Killers

Nice going, bro! Looks like their starting to show up where we hunt. Told you about how speckled trout love shrimp. Dr. says I need to watch my diabetes a little closer. Pissed I missed it. Thanks for the invite, I'll be there next time! Nice to let 'em swim, congrats!
