Trout slicks smell like watermelon......gafftop slicks smell like Curmudgen's waders.

Spotting a slick is pretty easy. but knowing how to fish that slick takes a little bit of practice and trial and error. Always cast upwind of your slick or tidal flow and allow your lure to target where it was not where it is. Learn to identify a fish produced slick verses a oyster slick or crabs. Try and use your nose as well, watermelon smell is a very good sign.

Now that's funny --- and instructive...
