That is a tough little shoot right at carancahua. Low tide has claimed a lot of v bottoms right there. I fished Saturday and Sunday as well in west. I saw you guys out there on the south reef I was up in the deep water behind north deer. made out with only 3- @ 16-17" and got 3 more in one of my go to spots. They were off the bubblegum and natural colors and ended up striking hackberry hustlers midnight glow. Very slow bite.

I got stuck in there once but it was on a high tide and foggy. Couldn't see the markers. Low tide is much easier for me to run in - I don't draw any water though.

I'm fairly new to fishing down here via boat but I've learned my lesson on fishing upper west bay (unless you're fishing lights at night, or maybe in the second half of winter). I've been skunked more times fishing that area than anywhere else in the bay complex combined. I used to go over there because it's so close and you can find protected water no matter what the conditions, never again during daylight.

West can skunk you if you dont know where to fish on and in certain conditions. Those of us who have spent most of their lives on west has hung with just about any locations in Galveston.
