Like the one we left in the fish box for about 30 days that was pure soup- I gagged really bad-worse than any freeezer from Ike! Geez, I wonder what the blind guy said when he walked by the boat storage place?? Bet he hurled when he did.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

They don't work well here BUT I have absolutely KILLED with them in Port O Connor. Only thing I would throw while sight casting redfish in the smaller back lakes. Always used the penny color.

Never caught a fish on one in the Galveston Bay complex though. Weird how different fish react to different things as each little body of water is it's own eco system. I guess that's what makes this so much fun!

I would have just set the boat on fire. That is really the only way to get rid of that kinda funk.

It's weird how the same fish act differently in different locals. It's crazy watching guys in Florida use topwaters. They wouldn't think about pausing their retrieve. They actually MAKE the specks chase their baits. I sure wish our big specks around here would do an exchange program.

I've used them a ton under corks in west bay and caught plenty of reds and trout. I've thrown them alone too although they can be a little hard to cast. I prefer clear water for doas but muddy will work. They are great for sightcasting or bopping along through grass but there are two tricks to using DOA shrimp. One: use them when the fish are feeding on shrimp around the same size. And two: You dont want to do alot of hopping with them. They arent meant to be used like a traditional soft plastic. Little hops like a natural shrimp would do in the water when its just moving along...thats why they do work better in clear water IMO.

Used 'em with good results under lights, but nothing much during daylight hours.

Are you talking about Gulps or DOAs? I've never seen a penny colored DOA.

I catch lots of reds and flounder of Penny colored Gulps in West Bay and the back lakes. I've never caught a fish on a DOA, but I'll give MSAddicted's technique a try next time I'm sight casting reds.

There's penny colored DOA shrimp, and rootbeer and fire tiger and silver...they make them in quite a few colors. Go to their website and you can get them direct. You can also get just the spare parts for them like the hooks, the insert, just the bodies, etc.

Thanks for the tips on using the DOA shrimp, Ms. Addicted. I bought some recently and haven't had a chance to use try them out. I'm pretty new to saltwater fishing so I'm still learning techniques.

I caught my biggest trout (26'') in florida on the bigger glo DOA. I was freelining it in some grass, wading in knee-deep water. That being said, I haven't used them a whole lot here. As was said before the lure is not designed to be worked like your regular plastics. You got to work them SLOW giving them a little hop here and there, in other words think how a shrimp really moves and work it accordingly. Here's an article that's helpful

If I'm targeting trout that are hitting on top, especially scrimps, it's my go to rig. If they're thick, I usually switch to a tandem sparkle beetle or tandem cacahoe minnow rig.

Bountyhunter made fun of my DOA under a cork. Called it a silly Cajun voodoo rig. I soon embarrassed him into asking if I had another one.

I pretty much only use the white colored ones.
